Singapore’s Elections Department (ELD) announced on Monday that the certified registers of electors will be open for public inspection starting Tuesday. This move is part of the standard preparations ahead of the country’s next general election, which is due by November 2025.
The registers list a total of 2,758,095 eligible voters, reflecting updates made during an initial public review conducted in February. This marks the second round of public inspection, giving citizens the opportunity to verify their inclusion in the electoral roll.
Notably, the certified registers were compiled based on electoral boundaries as of February 1. However, on March 11, Singapore revised its electoral boundaries following recommendations from the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee. These changes aim to account for population shifts and new housing developments across the nation.
The ELD is currently preparing composite registers by realigning polling districts to the new electoral divisions. Voters are advised to await further updates on the release of these composite registers before verifying their voter details.
In January, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong directed the Registration Officer to revise the registers. The ruling People’s Action Party is gearing up for the upcoming elections, with Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong expected to play a significant role.
