Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has pledged to deepen ties with China, emphasizing mutual benefits and a shared future between the two nations. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a new China-funded national road in Tbong Khmum province on Saturday, Hun Manet highlighted the strong partnership that Cambodia and China continue to build.
“Today is a testament to the strengthening of Cambodia-China relations for the common interest of our people,” he said. Since taking office, Hun Manet has overseen the launch of several major Chinese projects, including the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport.
The Prime Minister noted that China is Cambodia’s top investor, significantly contributing to the country’s socio-economic development and improving the livelihoods of Cambodian people. “Our relations are built on mutual support and respect for sovereignty and rights,” he added.
Cambodia and China established diplomatic relations on July 19, 1958. Over the years, their partnership has grown, culminating in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation in December 2010. Looking ahead, Hun Manet expressed commitment to working closely with China under the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative and “Diamond Hexagon” cooperation.
“We aim for a high-quality, high-level, and high-standard Cambodia-China community with a shared future in the new era,” he stated.
