On Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping began a state visit to Malaysia, marking a new chapter in the long-standing friendship between the two nations. Coinciding with his visit, a vibrant cultural exchange event was held in Kuala Lumpur, aiming to deepen cultural ties and enhance people-to-people connections.
The event, hosted by China Media Group (CMG), brought together over 200 prominent figures from political, business, cultural, academic, and media circles of both countries. The gathering showcased the mutual commitment of China and Malaysia to foster closer relations through cultural understanding and collaboration.
Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of CMG, delivered a heartfelt speech. He highlighted the enduring friendship between China and Malaysia and emphasized CMG’s role in documenting and promoting this relationship. “CMG stands ready to work hand in hand with our Malaysian friends to write a new chapter in China-Malaysia cultural exchanges and contribute further to building a closer China-Malaysia community with a shared future,” Shen said.
In recent years, CMG has strengthened its cooperation with Malaysian media partners, launching joint programs like “Our Story” and “Global Watch.” These programs have showcased the development journeys and mutual support between the two countries, resonating with audiences and fostering understanding.
Chang Lih Kang, Malaysia’s Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, congratulated CMG on the successful event and reaffirmed the robust bilateral relationship. “Under the strategic guidance of our two leaders, Malaysia and China will continue to write new chapters of win-win cooperation,” Chang stated.
During the event, several cooperation agreements were signed between CMG and Malaysian partners, covering areas such as academic exchanges, media collaboration, personnel visits, and think tank research. These initiatives aim to tell stories of cultural exchange, shared prosperity, and strengthen the bonds between the people of both nations.
The cultural exchange event marks a significant step in enhancing the partnership between China and Malaysia, promising new opportunities for collaboration and mutual growth.
