Chinese Mainland Urges Taiwan Businesses to Unite Against External Challenges

A senior official from the Chinese mainland has called on Taiwan businesses to join forces against external risks and challenges. Song Tao, head of both the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made these remarks during a meeting with representatives of Taiwan businesses in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province.

“The tariff war initiated by the United States cannot alter the solid fundamentals, strong resilience, and long-term positive trajectory of the mainland’s economy,” Song stated. “We have the wisdom and capability to tackle and overcome all challenges. The mainland will always be a strong backing for Taiwan business people.”

He emphasized that the mainland will address the difficulties faced by Taiwan businesses by introducing effective policy measures, ensuring equal treatment, and strengthening cross-strait industrial and supply chain connectivity.

Song expressed hope that Taiwan businesses would remain confident and proactive, actively engaging in cross-strait exchanges and cooperation to withstand external pressures.

Representatives of Taiwan businesses noted that unfair tariffs imposed by the United States have disrupted the global trade order, affecting some export-oriented enterprises. They highlighted the mainland’s institutional advantages and economic resilience as fundamental guarantees for resisting risks.

With the mainland’s comprehensive industrial system, vast market space, and significant investment and consumption potential, Taiwan businesses are confident in overcoming difficulties with support from all levels of government. They are eager to integrate into the new development pattern and explore new opportunities.

The representatives affirmed their commitment to standing with the mainland, supporting countermeasures against the United States, and working together to prevail in the tariff war.
