Wang Speaks to Indias Doval Urges calm and Restraint

China Urges India and Pakistan to Stay Calm Amid Rising Tensions

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for calm and restraint between India and Pakistan during a phone conversation with India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Saturday. Amid escalating tensions, Wang emphasized the importance of dialogue and consultation to resolve differences and prevent further escalation.

“China hopes that India and Pakistan will remain calm, exercise restraint, and properly handle their differences through dialogue,” Wang stated. He expressed support for a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire between the two neighboring countries, highlighting that such an outcome serves the fundamental interests of both nations and aligns with the aspirations of the international community.

Wang also condemned the recent terrorist attacks in the Pahalgam area, expressing opposition to all forms of terrorism. The attacks resulted in significant casualties on the Indian side, prompting India to consider counter-terrorism actions.

Doval affirmed that war is not India’s choice and is not in the interest of either side. He indicated that both India and Pakistan are committed to a ceasefire and look forward to restoring peace and stability in the region as soon as possible.

After four days of intense fighting, India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on Saturday. Top military officials from both sides are scheduled to reconvene discussions on Monday.

Wang highlighted that peace and stability in Asia are hard-won achievements that must be cherished. “India and Pakistan are not only immovable neighbors but also neighbors of China,” he noted, urging both countries to work toward regional harmony.
