One year ahead of China’s 15th National Games, organizers unveiled the official slogan, emblem, and mascots in a dazzling ceremony on Saturday evening.
This landmark event, scheduled from November 9 to 21, 2025, will be hosted in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, marking the first time Hong Kong and Macao co-host the nation’s premier sporting event since its inception in 1959.
The official slogan, ‘Passionate National Games, Vibrant Greater Bay Area’, captures the energetic spirit of the Games and underscores the unique collaboration among the three neighboring regions.
The emblem, resembling a burst of fireworks, integrates three colors representing the iconic flowers of each region: the reddish-orange bombax for Guangdong, the pink orchid for Hong Kong, and the green lotus for Macao. At its center, a subtle silhouette of a leaping athlete embodies the dynamic movement of sports.
The mascots for both the National Games and the Para Games draw inspiration from the Chinese white dolphin, a nationally protected species known for its grace and beauty. The white mascot, Xiyangyang, and the pink mascot, Lerongrong, symbolize joy, harmony, and unity.
According to Gao Chao, Director of the Publicity Department of China’s General Administration of Sport, the upcoming Games hold significance beyond sports. “We aim to facilitate more efficient movement of people, goods, capital, and information across the region, paving the way for integrated development within the Greater Bay Area,” Gao said.
The 15th National Games will feature 34 competitive sports and 23 mass sports activities. While Guangdong will host the majority of events, Macao will hold four competitions, including table tennis and women’s 3×3 basketball. Hong Kong will host eight events, such as golf, fencing, and beach volleyball.
This historic collaboration among Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao not only highlights the athletic prowess of the nation but also strengthens regional ties, promising an unforgettable experience for athletes and spectators alike.
