China’s National Football Team Arrives in Bahrain for Crucial World Cup Qualifier
The Chinese men’s national football team touched down in Manama, Bahrain, on Tuesday, gearing up for their pivotal AFC qualifier match for the 2026 FIFA World Cup set to kick off this Thursday.
After an intensive five-day training camp in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the team is poised to face Bahrain in a match that could significantly impact their World Cup aspirations. However, the squad suffered a setback as star forward Wu Lei parted ways with the team due to an unexpected injury.
“Player injuries are unavoidable,” goalkeeper Wang Dalei shared with reporters. “Our coach has plans and preparations to handle such situations. We’re focused on giving our best and playing every game like it’s our last.”
China’s recent performances have been a mix of challenges and triumphs. They have faced defeats against Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Australia but secured a victory over Indonesia. Currently, they sit at the bottom of Group C with three points, trailing by two points behind the top two teams who will automatically qualify for the World Cup.
Forward Wei Shihao expressed his determination and passion for the upcoming matches. “I want nothing more than to play for the national team,” he said. “I cherish every game deeply since being selected. We hope to earn points against Bahrain both away and at home because that’s how we can keep our World Cup dreams alive.”
As China prepares to clash with Bahrain, fans across the nation and beyond are eagerly awaiting a performance that could reignite their journey towards World Cup qualification.
