Cavaliers Go 15-0 After Beating Hornets; Mavericks Survive Thunder Scare

Cavaliers Extend Unbeaten Run with Victory Over Hornets

The Cleveland Cavaliers continued their perfect start to the season, defeating the Charlotte Hornets 128-114 on Sunday night. Darius Garland led the way with 25 points, while Ty Jerome matched his career high with 24 points.

With this win, the Cavaliers become only the fourth team in NBA history to start a season 15-0, joining the ranks of the Golden State Warriors (2016), Houston Rockets (1994), and Washington Capitols (1949). The Warriors hold the record for the best start, having won their first 24 games in the 2016 season.

Evan Mobley contributed a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Jarrett Allen added 21 points and 15 rebounds. Despite resting star guard Donovan Mitchell to prioritize his health over the long season, the Cavs maintained their momentum under first-year coach Kenny Atkinson, who remains undefeated with the team.

On the Hornets’ side, LaMelo Ball shone with 31 points and 12 assists, while Miles Bridges added 19 points. The Cavaliers are set to face the defending champions, the Boston Celtics, on Tuesday.

Mavericks Edge Thunder in Close Finish Without Doncic

In another thrilling game, the Dallas Mavericks narrowly defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 121-119, despite playing without their star guard Luka Doncic, who is sidelined with a knee injury.

The Mavericks led early but nearly lost their advantage in the final moments. Kyrie Irving stepped up with 23 points, one rebound, and six assists, while P.J. Washington impressed with 27 points, 17 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was outstanding for the Thunder, scoring a game-high 36 points, including a clutch shot late in the fourth quarter that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Mavericks coach Jason Kidd did not specify how long Doncic would be out. Doncic is averaging 28.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.8 assists this season. The Mavericks will look to maintain their form as they navigate upcoming games without their key player.
