China Sweeps India 8-0 at ITTF Mixed Team World Cup in Chengdu

Chengdu, China — China’s table tennis team delivered a commanding performance on Monday, sweeping India 8-0 at the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup. The hosts showcased their dominance, not dropping a single game against India or in their previous match against Australia.

Opening the mixed doubles encounter, China’s Lin Shidong and Kuai Man swiftly defeated India’s Jeet Chandra and Pritha Vartikar in straight sets, wrapping up the match 11-8, 11-2, 11-2 in just 15 minutes.

In the women’s singles, Wang Yidi faced a spirited challenge from Yashaswini Ghorpade. After taking the first two games 11-4, 11-3, Wang encountered resistance in the third. Ghorpade led early and saved two match points but ultimately fell 11-8, extending China’s lead.

The men’s singles saw Wang Chuqin battle Snehit Suravajjula. Wang secured the first game 11-5 after a tight start. The second game was a thriller; despite Wang’s early lead, Suravajjula rallied to an 8-4 advantage. Wang regained composure to clinch the game 11-9, sealing China’s emphatic victory.

With this win, China cements its position at the top of Group A and continues its pursuit of the championship on home soil.
