Jamal Musiala stepped off the bench to score twice as Bayern Munich overcame a spirited Heidenheim side with a 4-2 victory on Saturday, extending their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to six points.
Bayern dominated possession from the outset, and it didn’t take long for them to capitalize. In the 18th minute, Joshua Kimmich delivered a precise corner kick that found Dayot Upamecano, who headed home to give the hosts an early lead.
Despite controlling the game, Bayern couldn’t add to their advantage before halftime. Alphonso Davies struck the post in the 39th minute, and Heidenheim’s goalkeeper Kevin Müller made a stunning save to tip Kimmich’s long-range effort over the bar.
Heidenheim surprised the Allianz Arena by leveling the score in the 50th minute. Mathias Honsak rounded Bayern’s keeper Daniel Peretz to score with their first shot on target.
Bayern responded swiftly. Just six minutes later, Musiala, who had been introduced only five minutes earlier, found space on the edge of the box and curled a low shot into the bottom corner, restoring Bayern’s lead.
Leon Goretzka appeared to seal the win in the 84th minute with a deflected strike, making it 3-1. However, Heidenheim refused to back down, and Niklas Dorsch capitalized on a defensive lapse to reduce the deficit.
In stoppage time, Musiala struck again, latching onto Raphael Guerreiro’s through ball to secure the 4-2 result for Bayern.
The victory cements Bayern Munich’s position atop the Bundesliga table, while Heidenheim remains in 16th place, facing the threat of relegation.
