American Swimmers Shatter World Records at Budapest Championships

American swimmers made waves at the short-course Swimming World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, setting multiple world records in a single night.

Gretchen Walsh, a 21-year-old sensation competing in her first World Championships in a 25m pool, stole the spotlight. In the morning heats, Walsh clocked an impressive time of 53.24 seconds. Not settling there, she shaved more time off in the evening semifinals, recording a swift 52.87 seconds.

Just 26 minutes later, Walsh amazed the crowd again by breaking the world record in the women’s 100m individual medley final with a staggering time of 55.11 seconds.

The American triumph didn’t stop with Walsh. Kate Douglass also set a new world record in the women’s 200m breaststroke final, finishing in 2 minutes, 12.50 seconds and surpassing her previous record of 2 minutes, 12.72 seconds.

Adding to the night’s excitement, Regan Smith secured another record for the United States in the women’s 50m backstroke. She finished in 25.23 seconds, breaking the prior record held by Canada’s Maggie Mac Neil.

The phenomenal performances by these athletes highlight a new era of excellence in American swimming, inspiring fans around the world.
