Tianjin Clinches Second Straight Win at Women’s Club World Championship

Tianjin Bohai Bank secured their second consecutive victory at the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship, topping Pool A after defeating Italian giants Nuova Vero Volley Milano in straight sets.

The match was a showcase of athleticism and skill, with Tianjin’s captain Li Yingying and Milano’s star Paola Egonu both scoring a match-high of 22 points.

Tianjin came out strong in the first set, with Li launching a powerful left-handed spike that set the tone for the game. Milano fought back, narrowing the gap to 10-8 after Anna Danesi’s attack. Despite closing the scoreline, Tianjin took the opener 25-21.

In the second set, the home side strengthened their defense and ramped up their blocking, extending their lead. Egonu, known for her explosive spikes, attempted to turn the tide, but unforced errors hindered Milano’s progress. An error from Myriam Sylla sealed the set for Tianjin at 25-22.

The third set was a nail-biter, with both teams engaging in fierce rallies. Milano leveled the score at 23-all, keeping hopes alive for a comeback. However, Li delivered another decisive attack, pushing Tianjin to match point. They capitalized on the opportunity, winning the set 25-23 and securing the match.

Tianjin’s next challenge will be against Brazil’s Gerdau Minas on Thursday, as they aim to continue their winning streak in the championship.
