90th Edition of La Vuelta Unveiled in Madrid

90th Vuelta a España to Start in Italy’s Piedmont Region in 2025

Get ready, cycling fans! The 90th edition of the Vuelta a España has just been revealed, and it’s making history by starting in Italy’s stunning Piedmont region for the very first time. Kicking off on August 23, 2025, riders will embark on an epic journey with the breathtaking Alps as their backdrop.

Italy will host the first three stages of this legendary race before it heads back to Spain. This is only the sixth time the Vuelta starts outside its home country, following recent starts in Portugal, the Netherlands, and Belgium. And the international adventure continues, with the 2026 edition set to launch from Monaco!

The opening stage will see cyclists pedal from Turin to Novara over 183 kilometers, tackling the challenging Bienca-Tomalino Pass along the way. On day two, they’ll face a 157-kilometer route from Alba to Limone Piemonte, culminating in the race’s first summit finish—talk about a test of endurance! The third stage in Italy covers 139 kilometers from San Maurizio Canavese to Ceres, featuring a tough climb over the Issiglio Pass.

Fun fact: Turin also hosted the finish of the third stage of the 2024 Tour de France. It’s clear that Italy is becoming a hotspot for world-class cycling events!
