Tianjin and Conegliano Storm into FIVB Women’s Club World Championship Semifinals
Tianjin Bohai Bank and Italy’s Imoco Volley Conegliano have advanced to the semifinals of the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship after dominant performances in their respective pools.
Li Yingying Leads Tianjin to Victory
In Pool A, Tianjin Bohai Bank secured the top spot with a straight-sets victory over Brazil’s Gerdau Minas on Friday in Hangzhou. Tianjin’s captain, Li Yingying, delivered an outstanding performance, sharing the match-high of 22 points with Minas’ Kisy Nascimento.
The Chinese side took control from the start, with Li’s powerful serves setting the pace. A swift spike from Wang Yizhu helped secure the first set 25-19. The second set was tightly contested, but Tianjin capitalized on errors from Minas to edge ahead 25-22. Li continued her stellar play in the third set, sealing another 25-22 win and ensuring Tianjin advanced without dropping a set.
“My goal for this Club World Championship is simply to play with joy and enjoy each match,” said Li Yingying. “Having the right mindset is crucial, and as we head into the important semifinals, I hope to maintain this attitude and deliver a steady performance.”
Tianjin will face Dentil Praia Clube of Brazil, the second-placed team from Pool B, in the semifinals later on Saturday.
Zhu Ting Shines as Conegliano Tops Pool B
In Pool B, Imoco Volley Conegliano continued their unbeaten run by defeating Japan’s NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki in straight sets. Chinese volleyball star Zhu Ting played a key role, contributing 12 points and showcasing her impressive blocking skills.
Swedish opposite Isabelle Haak led all scorers with 17 points, as Conegliano claimed the sets 25-21, 25-20, and 25-19. Brazilian player Gabi Guimaraes also made significant contributions, helping the Italian side finish the group stage without dropping a set.
Conegliano will face Italian rivals Vero Volley Milano in the semifinals, setting the stage for an exciting encounter later on Saturday.
The semifinals promise thrilling volleyball action as the top teams compete for the prestigious title at the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship.
