Gu Ailing Clinches 17th Win at Freestyle Skiing Halfpipe World Cup

Who can stop China’s Gu Ailing?

The 21-year-old skiing sensation showcased her unmatched prowess by securing her 17th career victory at the women’s Freestyle Skiing Halfpipe World Cup at Copper Mountain on Saturday.

Entering the finals with confidence after topping the preliminaries, Gu was joined by fellow Chinese athletes Li Fanghui and Chen Zihan. The gold medalist from the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics didn’t disappoint, taking an early lead with a stunning score of 90.50 points.

Despite some mistakes in her second and third runs that could have cost her the top spot, Gu held on to her lead. She narrowly edged out Great Britain’s Zoe Atkins, who scored 89.75 points to claim second place. Li Fanghui finished fifth, and Chen Zihan placed eighth.

This win marks Gu’s 14th consecutive halfpipe title, further cementing her status as one of the sport’s all-time greats.
