Chinese Sprint Legend Su Bingtian to Retire After 2025 National Games

Chinese sprint sensation Su Bingtian has announced he plans to retire after the 15th National Games in November 2025. The event, co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, will mark the end of an illustrious career for the 35-year-old athlete.

“I want to conclude my career on a high note and contribute to my hometown and the Greater Bay Area,” Su said. Despite missing the 2024 Paris Olympics due to injury, Su is back in training and in good shape, eyeing the National Games as his final competition.

Su made history at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as the first Chinese man to reach a men’s 100m final. He set a new Asian record of 9.83 seconds in the semifinals before finishing sixth in the final. His groundbreaking achievements have inspired a new generation of athletes across Asia.

Another highlight of Su’s stellar career was securing the bronze medal in the men’s 4x100m relay at the Tokyo Olympics, marking China’s first medal in an Olympic sprint event.
