In a thrilling semi-final clash at the Chinese Table Tennis Super League on Tuesday, Shandong Weiqiao swept Shanghai Estate 3-0, earning a place in the final against Hubei Yellowstone.
The encounter began with the men’s doubles match. Shandong’s Liang Jingkun and Lin Gaoyuan faced Shanghai’s Xu Xin and Zhou Kai. After a fiercely contested four games, Liang and Lin secured the first point for Shandong with scores of 11-8, 14-16, 11-9, and 11-9.
The second match featured a high-stakes singles showdown between Wang Chuqin of Shandong and Fan Zhendong of Shanghai, a top-ranked player and world champion. Wang displayed exceptional skill, taking the first two games 11-9 and 11-5. Fan fought back to claim the third game 11-5, but Wang regained dominance in the fourth, winning 11-3 to clinch a 3-1 victory and extend Shandong’s lead to 2-0.
In the final match, Liang Jingkun returned to play against Zhou Kai in singles. Liang dominated the opening game 11-3, but Zhou responded by taking the second game 11-4. Unfazed, Liang powered through the next two games 11-8 and 11-5, sealing the overall 3-0 triumph for Shandong Weiqiao.
With this decisive victory, Shandong Weiqiao advances to the final, where they will face Hubei Yellowstone in a battle for the championship title.
