The Guangsha Lions extended their winning streak to 10 games after a thrilling 94-91 road victory over the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Monday night.
The Ducks welcomed back forward Zeng Fanbo and guard Lei Meng from injury, bolstering their lineup against a strong Guangsha team led by perennial CBA All-Stars Hu Jinqiu and Sun Minghui. The game was tightly contested, with the score knotted at 68-68 entering the final quarter.
In the decisive moments, Guangsha’s Josh Carlton drove to the basket, drew a foul, and calmly sank his free throws. Hu Jinqiu followed up with a smooth mid-range jumper over Zeng Fanbo. Although Hu missed his next shot, Carlton secured the offensive rebound and scored on a putback.
Zeng responded with a clutch three-pointer to keep the Ducks within reach. Despite Hu’s dominance in the paint, the game remained on a knife’s edge until the final seconds. A critical turnover by Beijing on an inbounds play allowed Sun Minghui to steal the ball and get to the free-throw line, where he sealed the game with two successful shots. The Ducks had a chance to tie, but Fang Shuo missed two three-point attempts as time expired.
Hu Jinqiu led all scorers with 27 points, while Sun Minghui added 16 points and eight assists for the Lions. For Beijing, Zhou Qi scored 15 points, and Zeng contributed 13 points and four assists.
In other CBA action, the Shanghai Sharks snapped a two-game losing streak by overwhelming the Sichuan Blue Whales 129-87. Li Hongquan came off the bench to hit five three-pointers, leading Shanghai with 26 points. Marcus Georges-Hunt put up a valiant effort for Sichuan with a game-high 34 points, six rebounds, and eight assists.
The Jilin Northeast Tigers defeated the Fujian Sturgeons 103-92, the Shanxi Loongs overcame the Guangzhou Loong Lions 124-116, the Guangdong Southern Tigers cruised past the Nanjing Monkey Kings 112-94, and the Xinjiang Flying Tigers soared over the Qingdao Eagles 103-83.
