China is gearing up to host the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, set to commence on February 7th. At a recent meeting held at the General Administration of Sport, the nation unveiled its delegation of 257 members, including 170 athletes ready to compete on home ice and snow.
This marks the third time China has hosted the prestigious event, and the team is poised to participate in all 64 events. The athletes comprise an equal split of 85 men and 85 women, with an average age of 23. The youngest competitor is just 16 years old, while the oldest brings 40 years of experience to the table.
Notably, 147 of these athletes will be making their debut on the Asian Winter Games stage, signaling a fresh wave of talent in China’s winter sports scene. Among the seasoned competitors are 48 athletes who participated in the Beijing Winter Olympics, including renowned champions like Gu Ailing and Xu Mengtao, two of the six Olympic gold medalists on the team.
