Filipino pair figure skaters Isabella Gamez and Aleksandr Korovin are on a mission to ignite a passion for winter sports in the Philippines. After making history in 2022 by winning the country’s first international medal in figure skating, the duo has arrived at the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, hoping their participation will inspire others back home.

“Our goal is to keep promoting winter sports and getting more people involved,” Isabella shared. In a country known for its tropical climate, winter sports are a rarity. But Gamez and Korovin believe their journey can change that narrative.

The skaters have expressed their admiration for the event’s organization. “It’s a very high level of organization,” Aleksandr commented, highlighting their excitement to compete on such a prestigious stage.

As they take to the ice in Harbin, Gamez and Korovin are not just competing for medals—they’re skating to create a legacy, hoping to inspire the next generation of Filipino winter athletes.
