China Continues Gold Rush at Harbin Asian Winter Games

China’s athletes continued their stellar performances at the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, solidifying their position at the top of the medal table.

The host nation kicked off the day with a triumphant victory in the women’s biathlon 4×6 kilometer relay, securing China’s 32nd gold medal at the ninth edition of the continental competition. The winning team comprised Meng Fanqi, Tang Jialin, Wen Ying, and Chu Yuanmeng. Following Meng’s silver and Tang’s bronze in the women’s 7.5km sprint just a day earlier, the quartet clinched gold with a time of 1 hour, 29 minutes, and 6.3 seconds. South Korea followed 21 seconds later to claim silver, while Kazakhstan took home the bronze.

In the men’s 4×7.5 kilometer relay, China’s team—featuring Hu Weiyao, Wu Hantu, Yan Xingyuan, and Gu Cang—secured the bronze medal with a time of 1 hour, 25 minutes, and 32.7 seconds. Gu had previously earned bronze in the men’s 7.5-kilometer sprint. The biathlon events concluded at the picturesque Yabuli Resort.

Meanwhile, the cancellation of the women’s snowboard halfpipe final led to results based on qualifying scores. China’s Wu Shaotong earned bronze, and veteran teammate Cai Xuetong finished just outside the podium in fourth place.

China’s impressive medal haul at the Asian Winter Games highlights the nation’s growing prowess in winter sports, inspiring fans and aspiring athletes alike.
