South Korea’s Kim Chae-yeon Dominates Women’s Short Program at ISU Four Continents
South Korean figure skater Kim Chae-yeon delivered a stunning performance on Friday, taking the lead in the women’s short program at the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Seoul. Kim’s flawless routine earned her an impressive score of 74.02 points, thrilling the home crowd and setting her up as the favorite heading into the free skate.
The competition saw 21 skaters vying for top positions. Among them, China’s An Xiangyi, Zhu Yi, and Chen Hongyi put forth commendable efforts. An achieved a score of 57.63 points, securing 12th place with a strong display of technical skills. Zhu Yi executed multiple triple jumps with precision, finishing 15th with 48.38 points. Despite battling an injury, Chen Hongyi showcased elegant spins and footwork, placing 16th with 47.57 points.
In the pairs event, Japan’s duo Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara captured the gold medal with a total score of 217.32 points, propelled by a remarkable free skate that earned them 142.59 points. Canada’s Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps overcame a challenging short program to claim silver, while fellow Canadians Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud took bronze.
