Chinas Zhou Excited to Learn from Hamilton in New Role with Ferrari

China’s Zhou Guanyu Thrilled to Join Ferrari and Learn from Lewis Hamilton

Ferrari’s Chinese reserve driver Zhou Guanyu has opened up about his excitement and readiness to embrace his new role with the iconic Italian team. The 26-year-old racer is eager to learn from seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who recently joined Ferrari’s full-time driver lineup alongside Charles Leclerc.

Last month, Ferrari confirmed Zhou’s position as a reserve driver for the 2025 season, alongside current backup Antonio Giovinazzi. This announcement came after the Sauber team decided to part ways with both Zhou and his teammate Valtteri Bottas, leading Zhou to seek new opportunities.

Emphasizing the importance of staying prepared, Zhou said, “As a reserve driver, you still need to train and be ready for unexpected chances. I must stay fit and keep my training going.” His commitment reflects the dedication required to perform at the highest levels of motorsport.

Working closely with Hamilton is a significant aspect of Zhou’s new role. “Over the past few years, I haven’t spent much time with Lewis,” Zhou shared. “Now that I’m working with him, he is a very smart driver who will bring rich experiences to the team. To work alongside him is a great honor for me, and I know I can learn a lot from him.”

Zhou’s enthusiasm extends beyond personal growth. Joining Ferrari, a team with a storied history in Formula 1, offers him a chance to contribute to their future successes. “Being part of Ferrari is a dream come true,” he added. “I’m excited to support the team and do whatever I can to help us achieve our goals.”

The upcoming season holds much promise for Zhou as he steps into this pivotal role, ready to make the most of every opportunity that comes his way.
