Defending champions Shanghai Port continued their flawless run in the Chinese Super League with a convincing 2-0 home victory over Changchun Yatai on Friday. The win marks back-to-back triumphs for Port as they kick off their title defense in style.
Yatai manager Xie Hui, returning to face his former club where he once served as assistant coach, watched as his side created several promising counterattacks in the first half but failed to capitalize on their chances.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 54th minute when Leonardo’s powerful strike rattled the post, allowing Feng Jin to seize the rebound and put Port ahead. The Brazilian striker Leonardo then sealed the win eight minutes into stoppage time with his maiden goal for Shanghai Port, taking advantage of Yatai’s defensive lapses.
With this victory, Shanghai Port sits atop the league table with maximum points, while Changchun Yatai remains winless after two matches.
In other action, Shandong Taishan secured their first win of the season in emphatic fashion, crushing newly promoted Dalian Yingbo 4-1 at home. Crysan opened the scoring with a stunning 12th-minute curler. Dalian’s Brazilian forward Fernando Karanga equalized against his former team, heading in Mao Weijie’s precise cross.
However, the momentum shifted when Karanga was shown a straight red card after a VAR review for a reckless challenge on Lucas Gazai. With Dalian reduced to ten men, Shandong capitalized, regaining the lead through Zeca’s composed finish following Crysan’s surge through midfield. Late goals from Guiherme Madruga and Xie Wenneng in injury time completed the dominant performance.
Shandong Taishan’s commanding win propels them to second place in the standings, while Dalian Yingbo’s defensive struggles persist, having conceded five goals in their opening two matches.
