China’s Wheelchair Curling Team Secures Spot at 2026 Winter Paralympics

China’s wheelchair curling team has secured their place at the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. The team showcased an impressive performance at the World Wheelchair Curling Championship in Stevenston, Scotland this week.

Competing against 11 other nations in the round-robin stage, China dominated the field by winning nine out of their 11 games, finishing at the top of the standings. Their stellar record propelled them into the playoff round, alongside South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Canada, and Slovakia.

In a thrilling semifinal match on Friday, China edged out Canada with a close 5-4 victory. This win advances them to the championship final, where they will face South Korea to contend for the title.

Wheelchair curling has been a part of the Winter Paralympics since 2006 in Turin, Italy. China has a strong legacy in the sport, having clinched gold medals in both the 2018 Games in PyeongChang and the 2022 Games in Beijing. Their qualification for the upcoming 2026 Games continues this tradition of excellence.
