Cristiano Ronaldo delivered a breathtaking goal, but it wasn’t enough to secure a victory as Al Nassr were held to a 2-2 draw by Al Shabab at home on Friday, extending their winless streak to three games in the Saudi Pro League.
Despite dominating possession early on, Al Nassr found themselves trailing just before halftime. In the 44th minute, Daniel Podence was fouled inside the box by Nawaf Boushal, earning Al Shabab a penalty. Abderrazak Hamdallah stepped up and confidently scored, putting the visitors ahead 1-0.
However, Al Shabab’s lead was short-lived. In the second minute of stoppage time, a miscleared free kick from Ronaldo allowed Ayman Yahya to fire in a powerful equalizer for Al Nassr. Just minutes later, deep into stoppage time, Ronaldo himself seized the moment. Assisted by Sadio Mane, he blasted a tight-angled shot past goalkeeper Georgiy Bushchan, marking the 926th goal of his illustrious career. Initially ruled offside, the goal was awarded after a VAR review, and Al Nassr entered halftime leading 2-1.
The momentum shifted early in the second half when Al Nassr’s Mohammed Al-Fatil received a red card in the 51st minute for a foul on Podence. Reduced to ten men, Al Nassr faced increasing pressure from Al Shabab.
In the 67th minute, Mohammed Al Shwirekh capitalized on a corner kick, heading the ball into the net to level the score at 2-2. Both teams pressed for a winner, but neither could find the decisive goal before the final whistle.
The draw means Al Nassr have secured only one win in their last six matches across all competitions, raising concerns among fans and adding urgency to their upcoming fixtures.
