Guangdong Stages Epic Comeback to Defeat Zhejiang 118-111 in CBA Showdown

The Guangdong Southern Tigers orchestrated a thrilling comeback to defeat the Zhejiang Golden Bulls 118-111 in a riveting Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) clash on Sunday. Overcoming a 17-point deficit, Guangdong showcased determination and skill, led by veteran Ren Junfei’s team-high 21 points.

Zhejiang began strong, with Yu Jiahao sinking a three-pointer to put the Golden Bulls ahead. Yu continued his impressive performance, adding another triple to extend the lead to seven, finishing the game with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Guangdong started to close the gap in the second quarter. Xu Jie’s long pass connected with Xu Xin, who delivered an emphatic dunk, narrowing the deficit to two points. Ren Junfei then set up Trey Burke for a three-pointer, propelling Guangdong to a one-point lead before halftime.

In the third quarter, the 35-year-old Ren demonstrated his experience, draining a three-pointer and boosting his team’s momentum. Xu Jie drove to the basket, completing a layup that expanded Guangdong’s lead to ten points.

Zhejiang’s Gabe York made a valiant effort, scoring a game-high 38 points, including crucial three-pointers that kept the Golden Bulls within reach. However, Guangdong’s resilience shone through. Despite Burke missing a shot, Ren was quick to tip in the rebound, maintaining a slim lead.

As the game reached its climax, Xu found Ren for a jumper, sealing the victory for the Southern Tigers. Guangdong secured a 118-111 win, highlighting their ability to rally and triumph under pressure.

In other CBA action, the Sichuan Blue Whales edged out the Nanjing Monkey Kings 128-124, while the Xinjiang Flying Tigers dominated the Guangzhou Loong Lions with a 116-80 victory.
