Shi Yuqi Wins Men’s Singles, China Shines at BWF All England Open

China’s top seed Shi Yuqi claimed his second men’s singles title at the BWF All England Open Badminton Championships on Sunday, defeating Lee Chia-hao of Chinese Taipei in straight games 21-17, 21-19.

Shi, who first won the prestigious title in 2018, advanced to the final for the fourth time after beating teammate and defending champion Li Shifeng in the semifinals. Facing an in-form Lee, Shi focused on extending rallies and capitalizing on his opponent’s errors.

“It’s been seven years,” Shi told the cheering crowd after the match. “A lot of things have happened during these seven years, ups and downs, but I finally made it because of your support.”

South Korea’s An Se-young Triumphs in Women’s Singles

In the women’s singles final, South Korea’s top seed An Se-young battled back from a game down to overcome China’s second seed Wang Zhiyi, winning 13-21, 21-18, 21-18. The victory maintains An’s unbeaten run this year across four tournaments.

“I had all sorts of emotions going through my mind during the second game,” An admitted. “The thought that was concrete in my mind was not giving up.”

Trailing 17-18 in the second game, An secured four consecutive points to turn the match around, showcasing her resilience and determination.

China Secures Mixed Doubles Title

The Chinese pair of Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui rallied past teammates Feng Yanzhe and Wei Yaxin to clinch the mixed doubles title for the first time, adding to China’s success at the tournament.

Other Results

Japan’s Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida were crowned champions in the women’s doubles, while South Korea’s Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae took home the men’s doubles title.
