Shanghai Shenhua delivered a stunning performance on Wednesday night, overturning a one-goal deficit to defeat Yunnan Yukunin 3-1 in the Chinese Super League (CSL). The victory marks their second consecutive win and propels them to second place in the league standings.
Yunnan Yukunin took the lead in the 23rd minute when Yu Chugui unleashed a spectacular half-volley from outside the box, after being set up by Pedro and Xu Hongjie. The goal energized the visitors, putting pressure on Shenhua to respond.
The hosts leveled the score in the 63rd minute when Gao Tianyi’s volley deflected into the corner of the net. The turning point came in the 79th minute when Yunnan’s captain, Yi Teng, received a second yellow card, reducing his team to ten men.
Capitalizing on the numerical advantage, Shenhua surged ahead just six minutes later. Wu Xi found Saulo in perfect position for a simple tap-in, making it 2-1. In injury time, Saulo secured his brace, skillfully creating space and firing home to seal the 3-1 victory.
With this win, Shanghai Shenhua remain unbeaten this season, sharing ten points with defending champions Shanghai Port but holding second place due to goal difference.
Beijing Guoan Salvage Draw Against Tianjin Jinmen Tiger
In another CSL fixture, Beijing Guoan managed a dramatic 2-2 draw away at Tianjin Jinmen Tiger. The match started ominously for Guoan, as defender Uros Spajic was rushed to the hospital with a head injury just three minutes in.
Despite the setback, Li Lei put Beijing ahead in the 27th minute with a sharp finish from a tight angle. However, Tianjin’s Alberto Quiles turned the game on its head with two goals after the 70th minute, bringing his season tally to four.
Just when it seemed Tianjin would take all three points, Yang Liyu’s cross-turned-shot found the back of the net in stoppage time, earning Beijing Guoan a valuable point on the road.
