Ding Junhui Shines with Quarterfinal Win Over Kyren Wilson

Ding Junhui, the Chinese mainland’s top snooker player, achieved a remarkable victory by defeating Kyren Wilson 10-5 in the quarterfinals of the WST Tour Championship. This win comes as Ding celebrates a significant milestone in his illustrious career, marking years of success since his first ranking title in 2005.

Ding first burst onto the international snooker scene at the 2005 China Open, where he claimed his inaugural ranking title by defeating Stephen Hendry. Since then, he has established himself as Asia’s most accomplished snooker player, securing 15 ranking titles.

In the match against Wilson, Ding showcased exceptional skill and precision. He built a commanding 7-1 lead after the first session, thanks to impressive breaks of 123, 73, 76, 59, and 80. Continuing his momentum into the second session, Ding swiftly took the first frame with another break of 80.

Although Wilson fought back by taking two frames, Ding maintained control. In the 12th frame, Ding surged to a 63-0 lead before missing a red, allowing Wilson to clear the table with a break of 66, momentarily threatening a comeback.

Unfazed, Ding secured the 13th frame to extend his lead to 9-4. Wilson managed one more frame with an impressive break of 106, but Ding sealed his victory with a break of 63 in the 15th frame, clinching the match 10-5.

Ding now advances to the semifinals, where he will face four-time world champion Mark Selby.
