Incheon, South Korea — China celebrated a triumphant day at the 2025 World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions Incheon on Saturday, clinching three spots in the singles semifinals and showcasing the nation’s rising stars.
Top-seeded Wang Yidi commanded the table with a decisive 4-1 victory over South Korea’s Shin Yu-bin. “I think Zhu is in very good form. It will be a very tough match tomorrow. I’ll do my best in the competition and prepare for difficult moments,” Wang commented, looking ahead to her semifinal face-off against former world No. 1 Zhu Yuling, representing Macao, China.
Meanwhile, China’s fourth-ranked Chen Xingtong secured her semifinal berth by overcoming Japan’s Mima Ito in a thrilling 4-2 match. Chen is set to compete against Japan’s rising star, Miwa Harimoto, in Sunday’s semifinal.
In the men’s singles quarterfinals, 21-year-old Xiang Peng delivered an impressive performance against Brazil’s Hugo Calderano. “I was well-prepared for a tough clash. But once I got a clear understanding of Calderano’s spins, things started to pick up for me,” Xiang shared. His relaxed mindset and enthusiasm were key to his success. “I played without pressure and felt very relaxed. I approach each match with eager anticipation, even though it will be tough,” he added.
