In a commanding performance on Saturday, Mark Selby defeated China’s Ding Junhui 10-2 to secure his place in the Tour Championship final in Manchester.
Selby, entering the evening session with a 6-2 lead, wasted no time extending his advantage. He opened with a stunning break of 104, pushing the score to 7-2. The Englishman then clinched another frame to widen the gap to 8-2.
The world number three showcased his exceptional skill with subsequent breaks of 54 and 58, leaving Ding with limited opportunities to stage a comeback. Ding, despite his efforts, couldn’t capitalize on the few chances he had.
Selby will face John Higgins in the final, after Higgins overcame Barry Hawkins in the other semi-final. This upcoming match will mark Selby’s 37th ranking final as he eyes his 25th career title.
Historically, Selby holds an edge over Higgins, leading their head-to-head record with 16 victories to the Scotsman’s eight in their 24 previous encounters. The final promises to be an exciting showdown between two seasoned professionals.
