Chinese table tennis players showcased their dominance on the second day of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Cup in Macao, securing eight victories out of nine matches.
In men’s singles, World No. 1 Lin Shidong swept past Australia’s Hwan Bae with a commanding 4-0 victory. Wang Chuqin also triumphed over Australia’s Aditya Sareen by the same scoreline. Wang is set to face Croatia’s Tomislav Pucar next, who earlier defeated Sareen 4-0. “I’m expecting a tough match tomorrow,” Wang said about his upcoming clash with Pucar.
On the women’s side, defending champion and World No. 1 Sun Yingsha dominated Canada’s Mo Zhang with a flawless 4-0 win. Wang Manyu faced a challenging match against Sweden’s Linda Bergstrom but managed to secure a 3-1 victory. Other Chinese players advancing include Chen Xingtong, Lin Gaoyuan, Kuai Man, and Liang Jingkun. Wang Yidi faced an upset, falling 1-3 to France’s Jianan Yuan.
The ITTF World Cup in Macao features 48 male and 48 female top players from around the world and runs from Monday through Sunday.
