Cristiano Ronaldo’s ambitions of securing his first Saudi Pro League title took a significant blow on Friday as Al Nassr fell 2-1 to Al Qadsiah.
In a tense match, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s shot in the 35th minute forced a save from Al Nassr’s goalkeeper. Turki Al-Ammar was quick to react, scoring on the rebound to give Al Qadsiah the lead.
Al Nassr battled back, and in the 84th minute, Sadio Mane found the net, leveling the score and raising hopes of narrowing the gap with league leaders Al Ittihad, who had suffered a 2-0 defeat to Al Fateh the day before.
However, those hopes were dashed when Aubameyang headed in the winning goal for Al Qadsiah in the 87th minute.
The defeat leaves Al Nassr in third place, eight points behind Al Ittihad, with just six games left in the season. Al Qadsiah’s victory moves them up to fifth place, intensifying the race for top positions.
