The Beijing Ducks have secured their spot in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) playoffs semifinals after a commanding victory over the Beikong Royal Fighters. In Game 4 of the Beijing derby on Monday, the Ducks clinched a 112-95 win, taking the quarterfinal series 3-1 in the best-of-five showdown.
Starting strong, the Ducks established an early lead with Chen Ying-chun and Zhai Xiaochuan pushing the team ahead 20-9. Despite the Royal Fighters intensifying their defense in the second quarter, a three-point buzzer-beater by Eugene German ensured the Ducks held a 53-47 advantage at halftime.
Dominating the rebounds throughout the game, the Ducks continued to extend their lead. Zachary Nutall‘s buzzer-beating three-pointer at the end of the third quarter put the Ducks up by 15 points, leaving the Royal Fighters struggling to mount a comeback.
In an impressive team effort, seven Ducks players scored in double digits. Eugene German led the charge with 25 points and six assists. Although Grant Riller of the Royal Fighters posted a game-high 27 points, it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.
With this victory, the Beijing Ducks are set to face the second-seeded Shanxi Loongs in the semifinals, promising an exciting clash ahead.
