China Scores Big with Two Golds at Artistic Swimming World Cup in Canada

China made a splash on the second day of the World Aquatics Artistic Swimming World Cup in Markham, Canada, clinching two gold medals and a bronze.

In the women’s solo free final, 19-year-old Xu Huiyan dazzled the judges with an impeccable performance, earning a massive 218.8438 points. She finished more than 18 points ahead of Georgia’s Mari Alavidze, who took silver. This victory adds to Xu’s golden streak, as she had already secured the solo technical title on Thursday.

Over in the men’s solo free final, 16-year-old Guo Muye shone brightly, scoring 192.7988 points to grab the gold. As the youngest among the six finalists, Guo impressed everyone with his powerful and skillful routine set to traditional Chinese music. Mexico’s Diego Villalobos Carrillo took silver, and Britain’s Ranjuo Tomblin claimed bronze.

China also added a bronze in the women’s duet technical final. Twin sisters Lin Yanhan and Lin Yanjun scored 279.5150 points to secure third place. The gold went to Austria’s Anna-Maria Alexandri and Eirini-Marina Alexandri, while Spain’s Txell Ferre Gaset and Lilou Lluis Valette took silver.

The Chinese team’s strong performances have placed them firmly on the international artistic swimming stage, showcasing the emerging talents of their young athletes.
