China’s women’s futsal team delivered a resounding 6-0 victory over Indonesia to secure their spot in the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup semifinals in Hohhot. The hosts, who were the only team to win all their group stage matches, continued their dominant form in the quarterfinals.
The breakthrough came in the 13th minute when substitute Zhan Zewen unleashed a powerful shot, putting the People’s Republic of China ahead 1-0. Just two minutes into the second half, a long-range effort from Zou Yinglan was parried by the Indonesian goalkeeper, but Fan Yuqiu was quick to capitalize on the rebound, doubling the lead to 2-0.
China extended their advantage three minutes later as Zhang Rui found the back of the net, making it 3-0. In the final ten minutes, the team showcased their attacking prowess with goals from Jiang Xiaoyu, Yu Ting, and Xiong Jing, sealing an emphatic 6-0 win.
With this victory, China advances to face Thailand in the semifinals. The stakes are high, as the two finalists and the third-place playoff winner will earn spots in the inaugural Women’s Futsal World Cup in the Philippines this November.
Reflecting on the match and the road ahead, midfielder Fan Yuqiu said, “How many chances do we get in our life? I’m not as youthful as the others anymore, so I think this competition is really important. We are aiming for the World Cup, and I think as long as we perform well, there won’t be a problem.”
