Olympic champions Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha showcased their dominance at the World Table Tennis Championships on Friday, defeating South Korea’s Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin in straight sets to secure their spot in the mixed doubles final.
The dynamic duo, seeded second in the tournament, controlled the match from start to finish, winning 12-10, 11-6, 16-14 in a thrilling 34-minute encounter. This victory brings them one step closer to clinching their third consecutive mixed doubles title.
“We played with confidence and stayed focused throughout the match,” said Sun Yingsha after their win. “We’re excited to be in the final and will give it our all.”
Wang and Sun will face off against Japan’s Maharu Yoshimura and Satsuki Odo in the final. The 16th-seeded Japanese pair earned their place by overcoming Hong Kong’s Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem with a 3-1 victory, registering scores of 11-8, 11-1, 4-11, 11-2.
“It will be a great moment for us when we compete with the top players in the world,” expressed Yoshimura, anticipating the challenging final ahead.
