Top Athletes Compete at China’s National Athletics Grand Prix in Bengbu

The fourth leg of China’s 2025 National Athletics Grand Prix kicked off in Bengbu City on Friday, drawing over 1,500 athletes from across the country. The three-day event showcases a wide array of track and field disciplines, including men’s and women’s 100m, 200m, 400m races, as well as field events like shot put, javelin, and hammer throw.

Among the star athletes making appearances are Su Bingtian, Chen Jiapeng, Li Yuting, and Xia Sining. Fans were eager to see Asian record holder Su Bingtian in action as he competed in his second outdoor event of the season.

On the opening day, Su faced stiff competition in Heat 21 of the men’s 100m. Racing alongside Deng Xinrui, who holds the best national performance this season, Su finished third in his heat with a time of 10.52 seconds. Despite his effort, he narrowly missed qualifying for the semifinals, ranking 32nd overall with only the top 24 advancing.

Deng Xinrui won the heat with a time of 10.31 seconds, while Chen Jiapeng topped all qualifiers with a season-best of 10.28 seconds. The competition remains fierce as athletes vie for top honors and personal bests.

The 2025 National Athletics Grand Prix is a six-leg series, with events held in Zhaoqing (Guangdong Province), Jiaxing (Zhejiang Province), Chongqing Municipality, Bengbu (Anhui Province), Qingdao (Shandong Province), and Yulin (Shaanxi Province). The Grand Prix serves as a platform for athletes to showcase their talents and gain valuable experience on the national stage.
