China’s Women’s Basketball Team Dominates Japan 93-61 in Final Asia Cup Warm-Up

The Chinese women’s basketball team showcased their prowess with a commanding 93-61 victory over Japan in their final warm-up game ahead of the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup.

China took control early, leading 26-23 at the end of the first quarter. They intensified their offense in the second quarter, expanding their advantage to a substantial 51-31 by halftime.

In the second half, players Zhang Ru, Han Xu, and Yang Shuyu spearheaded a scoring surge that widened the gap to 30 points. Despite Japan’s attempt at a comeback with an 8-0 run, China maintained their momentum to secure the decisive win.

Guard Wang Siyu led the team with a game-high 17 points. Center Zhang Ziyu contributed 16 points and grabbed 4 rebounds, while Zhai Ruoyun added 11 points to the tally.

“We want to take this chance to train the team and adapt to the fast transition pace, so that we can go all out for the Asia Cup,” said China head coach Gong Luming. He noted that the current squad is a blend of different ages and needs time to build chemistry. “But we will keep working,” he added.

China is set to face Australia next, with a match in Haikou, Hainan Province, on July 6, followed by a rematch in Changsha on July 8. Both teams are gearing up for the forthcoming FIBA Women’s Asia Cup.
