Beijing Guoan surged back to the top of the Chinese Super League (CSL) standings after a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over Yunnan Yukun on Monday. Celebrating their 400th match at the Workers Stadium in Beijing, Guoan delivered a performance to remember.
Despite trailing after Yunnan’s forward Ye Chugui netted a close-range goal in the first half, Guoan displayed resilience. Fabio Abreu leveled the score in the 55th minute, capitalizing on a precise pass from Zhang Yuning. Moments later, Zhang Yuning was fouled in the box, earning a penalty that Zhang Xizhe confidently converted, sealing the win for the home side.
The victory propels Guoan level with Shanghai Shenhua at 38 points but takes them to the top on goal difference, reigniting the race for the CSL title.
In another exciting matchup, Shanghai Port clinched a 2-1 win against Shenzhen Peng City on the road. Shenzhen’s Li Ning struck first in the ninth minute with a clinical finish. Shanghai Port fought back in the second half when Li Xinxiang unleashed a stunning long-range shot to equalize in the 63rd minute. The comeback was completed when Leonardo found the net in the 77th minute, extending Port’s unbeaten run to seven games and solidifying their fourth-place position.
Meanwhile, Shandong Taishan experienced heartbreak as they squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Henan. Zeca’s first-half brace gave Shandong a comfortable lead, but Henan’s Felippe Cardoso headed in a goal before converting a penalty after Frank Acheampong was fouled, leveling the match.
Elsewhere, Dalian Yingbo secured a 1-0 victory over Zhejiang at home. Cephas Malele’s 42nd-minute header was enough to earn Dalian three points, pushing them back into the top ten. The result ended Zhejiang’s three-match unbeaten streak, dropping them to ninth in the standings.
