Team China has unveiled its powerhouse lineup for the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, featuring a host of Olympic and world champions ready to make waves.
The championships are scheduled from July 11 to August 3, with water polo kicking off the tournament on the opening day.
Leading the 34-member swimming squad is 2024 Paris Olympic champion Pan Zhanle, who expressed excitement for his fourth World Championships. “At the 2024 Doha Worlds, I broke the world record and won gold, so this event holds special memories. I hope to deliver my best in the 100m freestyle final,” Pan said.
Veteran swimmer Wang Shun, 31, a 2020 Tokyo Olympic champion, is set to make his eighth World Championships appearance.
The diving competitions will feature Olympic champions Chen Yuxi, Chen Yiwen, Cao Yuan, and Wang Zongyuan among the 14-athlete “Dream Team” competing across 13 events. Notably absent are two-time Olympic champion Quan Hongchan, due to injury, and Chang Yani. Rising stars Zhang Minjie and Chen Jia have earned their spots after impressive performances at this year’s Diving World Cup. On the men’s side, Cao Yuan and Wang Zongyuan will lead their younger teammates.
The artistic swimming team comprises 13 athletes competing in 11 events, including Paris Olympians Feng Yu, Chang Hao, Xiang Binxuan, and Cheng Wentao. Young twins Lin Yanhan and Lin Yanjun will take the place of Olympic gold medalists Wang Liuyi and Wang Qianyi in the duet event. Male swimmer Guo Muye has also secured a spot.
China’s open water team will send six swimmers across seven events. The women’s and men’s water polo teams each have 15 athletes competing.
With a mix of seasoned champions and rising stars, Team China is poised to make a significant impact at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships.
