Zhang Shuai Marcelo Arevalo Suffer Straight set Loss in Semifinals

Zhang Shuai’s Wimbledon Journey Ends in Mixed Doubles Semifinals

China’s Zhang Shuai and El Salvador’s Marcelo Arevalo bowed out of Wimbledon after a hard-fought mixed doubles semifinal on Tuesday. The duo faced Joe Salisbury of the United Kingdom and Brazil’s Luisa Stefani, falling in straight sets.

This marks the second time Zhang has reached a Wimbledon semifinal, showcasing her consistent performance on the grass courts. The opening set was a fierce battle, pushing into a tiebreaker where Zhang and Arevalo initially led. However, Salisbury and Stefani rallied back to take the set.

In the second set, Zhang and Arevalo lost momentum, dropping three consecutive points before ultimately conceding the match. Salisbury and Stefani advance to the final, where they will face Katerina Siniakova and Sem Verbeek.

Despite the loss, Zhang remains positive. “This Wimbledon journey has been truly wonderful,” she said. “From qualifying rounds in singles to reaching the third round in women’s doubles and now the mixed doubles semifinals after the French Open, we’re very happy with the results. We have no regrets; we’ve given our all.”
