The 2025 BWF World Tour Super 1000 China Open commenced in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, bringing together the world’s elite badminton players for an intense week of competition.

In a gripping women’s singles opening round, China’s Han Yue showcased resilience and skill to overcome Japan’s Natsuki Nidaira in a thrilling three-game match, securing her spot in the round of 16. The two athletes, familiar foes on the court, had previously faced each other three times, with Han emerging victorious in all encounters.

Han dominated the first game with precision and control, outmaneuvering Natsuki to clinch a swift 21-9 victory. Capitalizing on these mistakes, Natsuki fought back to win the second game 21-12, leveling the match and escalating the tension.

The decisive third game was a nail-biter. Han managed to maintain a slim lead throughout, demonstrating composure under pressure. At 20-15, Natsuki staged a late surge, narrowing the gap to 20-17. Nevertheless, Han sealed the victory with a powerful return, taking the final game 21-17 and advancing to the next round.

In mixed doubles action, the Chinese duo of Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui delivered an impressive comeback against Denmark’s Jesper Toft and Emily Magelund, the reigning European mixed doubles champions. Despite dropping the first game 17-21, Guo and Chen adjusted their strategy and edged out a tight second game 21-19. With momentum on their side, they dominated the final game 21-14, earning their place in the last 16.
