FedEx Boosts China-US Cargo Flights with New Xiamen Hub

FedEx is enhancing its logistics network between China and the United States by increasing the frequency of its cargo flights from Xiamen. The global delivery company announced on Thursday that it will now operate five flights per week, up from the previous weekly service.

The expanded service uses Boeing 777 freighters, departing from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, stopping in Incheon, South Korea, before heading to Anchorage, Alaska, and finally Memphis, Tennessee. This enhancement reduces transit times for shipments from Fujian province to North America by one to two days, benefiting businesses and consumers alike.

On the same day, FedEx launched a new international gateway operation facility in Xiamen, covering over 3,800 square meters and featuring automated sorting lines to boost efficiency. This facility integrates customs clearance and sorting processes, streamlining cross-border e-commerce and freight handling for customers in Xiamen and the broader Fujian region.

“China is crucial to our global operations,” said Robert Chu, vice president of FedEx China. “By increasing our flights and opening the new facility, we’re connecting more Chinese cities with global markets and supporting local businesses to grow internationally.”

FedEx’s investment in Xiamen aligns with its strategic collaboration with the city government to enhance international air logistics and cross-border e-commerce. The company is also expanding in other cities, having increased its Qingdao-U.S. cargo flights and opened a gateway facility there earlier this month.

This year marks FedEx’s 40th anniversary in China. The company operates six international logistics hubs across the country—in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Qingdao, and Xiamen—employing nearly 11,000 staff and running over 300 international cargo flights weekly within mainland China.
