China Launches Two High-Resolution Radar Satellites into Orbit

China has successfully launched two high-resolution radar satellites, marking a significant advancement in its space technology.

Early Monday morning, a Long March-2C rocket soared into the sky from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China at 7:39 a.m. The rocket carried the Siwei Gaojing-2 03 and 04 satellites, which were developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

These cutting-edge satellites are equipped with high-precision phased array radar systems, enabling them to capture all-day, all-weather, high-resolution images of Earth’s surface. This technology will serve various fields, including natural resource management, urban security, emergency response, and maritime affairs.

The Long March-2C rocket, developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, is a reliable liquid-propellant launch vehicle. It’s primarily used for deploying satellites into low Earth orbit and sun-synchronous orbit. Impressively, it can launch from all three of China’s major spaceports: Xichang, Jiuquan, and Taiyuan.

This mission marks the 547th flight of the Long March rocket series, underscoring China’s ongoing commitment to expanding its capabilities in space exploration and satellite technology.
