Global Leaders Unite at China’s 2nd International Supply Chain Expo
The world’s first national-level supply chain exhibition, the second China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), kicked off in Beijing on Tuesday. With the theme “Connecting the World for a Shared Future,” the expo is bringing together over 620 companies and institutions from around the globe.
This year’s event emphasizes the interconnected nature of supply chains, showcasing key processes from start to finish. Exhibitors are collaborating with their partners to display innovations across industries, highlighting the importance of working together in today’s global economy.
Expanded Global Participation
The 2023 CISCE sees a 20% increase in participants compared to last year. Notably, there’s strong representation from countries such as the United States, European nations, Japan, and partners in China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Overseas exhibitors now make up 32% of the total, a rise from 26% previously. This includes companies from over 40 Belt and Road partner countries.
“This reflects the international community’s strong demand for cooperation in industrial and supply chains, as well as the trust that companies from around the world place in China’s development and the CISCE,” said Zhang Shaogang, deputy director of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
Apple CEO Tim Cook, who visited the expo on Monday, echoed this sentiment. He highlighted China’s significance as a key market and supply chain partner, stating, “With China’s growth, Apple has grown as well. It’s a great example of win-win cooperation.”
Additionally, delegates from more than 100 countries and organizations are expected to attend. To support global inclusion, China has offered free exhibition booths to enterprises from less-developed regions, encouraging their participation.
Showcasing Innovation and Collaboration
One of the standout features of this year’s expo is a new exhibition area dedicated to advanced manufacturing. Here, nearly 80 leading global companies are presenting cutting-edge technologies in research and development, intelligent manufacturing, and high-end equipment.
Major industry players are also unveiling specialized displays. Bosch, in collaboration with Rio Tinto and XPeng, is highlighting advancements in the smart vehicle supply chain. Siemens is showcasing industrial automation technologies, while companies like Maersk and Honeywell are introducing new products focused on logistics, environmental protection, and carbon reduction.
The expo aims to promote an open and inclusive global economy by encouraging collaboration between Chinese and international companies. For instance, Lenovo and SAP are presenting innovations in private cloud solutions and commercial AI, emphasizing the potential of global partnerships.
Hubei and Hungary Join Forces
Hubei Province, honored as the Province of Honor this year, is teaming up with Hungary, the State of Honor, to co-organize a special matchmaking conference. This initiative aims to promote supply chain cooperation, especially in advanced manufacturing, logistics, and green energy.
Located in central China, Hubei plays a significant role in the Belt and Road Initiative and the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Meanwhile, the Hungary Pavilion is showcasing the country’s key industries, unique resources, and cultural heritage, highlighting advancements in technology, agriculture, and environmental sustainability.
The second CISCE runs until November 30, offering a platform for global leaders to connect, collaborate, and shape the future of international supply chains.
