Openai Releases Sora Video Generator for Chatgpt Plus and Pro Users

OpenAI Launches Sora: Text-to-Video Tool for ChatGPT Plus Users

OpenAI has unveiled its latest artificial intelligence model, Sora, a groundbreaking text-to-video generator now available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users. This move marks a significant step in OpenAI’s expansion into multimodal AI technologies.

The company, which sparked a global interest in generative AI with the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, is now targeting similar tools from tech giants like Meta and Google, as well as Stability AI’s Stable Video Diffusion.

Initially introduced in February for a limited group of safety testers, Sora is now accessible to a wider audience as Sora Turbo at no additional cost. “We’re working on tailored pricing for different types of users, which we plan to make available early next year,” OpenAI mentioned in a recent blog post.

Users can generate videos up to 20 seconds long with resolutions up to 1080p, offering flexibility in widescreen, vertical, or square aspect ratios. This enables creators to produce content suitable for various platforms, from social media to personal projects.

While Sora is not yet available in European Union countries, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, OpenAI plans to roll it out in these regions as it refines the model. For now, users in other regions where ChatGPT is present can start experimenting with this new feature.

OpenAI has emphasized its commitment to preventing misuse of Sora. The company will implement safeguards to block the creation and upload of harmful content to ensure ethical use of the tool. “Uploads of people will be limited at launch, but we intend to roll the feature out to more users as we refine our deepfake mitigations,” OpenAI stated.

This development opens up exciting possibilities for content creators, educators, and innovators in the Global South and beyond, providing a new tool to bring ideas to life through video.
