Beijing Unveils Three New Metro Lines, Easing City Commutes
On Sunday, Beijing took a significant step to improve city life by opening three new metro lines. This expansion stretches the capital’s urban rail network to an astounding 879 kilometers—the longest in China.
“The new lines include an east-west underground corridor that connects with numerous north-south lines, providing fresh options for residents in major communities,” explained Wu Yulan of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport.
With a total of 522 stations and 98 interchange stations, navigating Beijing has never been easier. The city’s focus on expanding its metro system aims to reduce traffic congestion and make daily commutes faster and more comfortable.
Since the debut of China’s first urban rail line in Beijing back in 1969, the city has been dedicated to enhancing public transportation. This latest addition not only speeds up travel but also highlights Beijing’s commitment to sustainable urban growth.
