China Maintains High Utilization Rates of Wind Solar Power

China’s Wind and Solar Power Utilization Tops 95%, Driving Green Energy Surge

China’s green energy revolution is accelerating at a remarkable pace, with wind and solar power utilization rates exceeding 95% this year. This milestone, reported by the National Energy Administration on Sunday, highlights China’s commitment to sustainable energy development.

By the end of 2024, China’s installed capacity for wind power reached 510 million kilowatts, and solar power capacity soared to 840 million kilowatts. In just the first seven months of 2024, the country generated 1.05 trillion kilowatt hours from wind and solar sources, making up about 20% of its total electricity production.

Since 2013, China’s renewable energy sector has experienced explosive growth. Wind power capacity has multiplied by six, while solar power capacity has surged more than 180 times. China’s new installations now account for over 40% of the global total, significantly boosting worldwide green development.

At a national energy conference held on Sunday, Chinese authorities vowed to further develop and harness wind and solar power to drive the nation’s green and low-carbon transformation. The country also aims to deepen international cooperation in green energy and actively engage in global energy governance.

China’s advancements in renewable energy not only demonstrate its dedication to combating climate change but also set an example for other nations looking to invest in sustainable energy solutions.
